The Clifton Forge Public Library will host a program on Cyber Safety that is geared for children who are 11-18 years old.  Parents and guardians are also strongly encouraged to attend.  The program will be presented by Sergeant Jeremy Morris.  Sponsored by the library, it will be held on Monday, November 13, in the Underground of the Historic Masonic Theatre, and will begin at 6:00 p.m.  Admission is free.

The topics included in Sergeant Morris’ presentation cover a wide variety and will include digital footprints, cyberbullying and cyberstalking, online child predators, social media, video games, sextortion, and how to protect yourself and your children.

Dangerous characteristics, suspicious tactics and other red flags to be alert for will be presented.  Viable ways to take action will also be included.

“The goal of my presentation,” Sergeant Morris says, “is to reach out to the parents and children of our community and let them know that there are resources, and to equip them with a better understanding ranging from cyberbullies to online child predators.”

A question-and-answer session will conclude the program.

The Historic Masonic Theatre is located at 510 Main Street.
