“Art Decade,” an exhibit of work by Clifton Forge Native Knic Umstead,
will open Tuesday June 22, 2021. The exhibit includes pieces from 8 different series of work. It includes several painting media, photography, collage and digital images. Some of the work is representational and much of it has abstract qualities.
“At its core, art is communication- a visual language that supersedes spoken words and specific tongues. The art I make comes from a desire to make tangible repetition of visual questions and input from my other senses– the unseen.” ~Knic Umstead
Umstead’s work is thoughtful, sometimes challenging but most of all, engaging. He currently teaches at Radford University, Virginia Tech and is a Lead Coordinator for the Summer Residence Governor’s School for the Visual and Performing Arts.
Join us in the gallery between June 22 and July 23. Admission is free.
