Collograph Class Session 2

February 16, 2021 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

  • This event has passed.
A collagraph is a print made from a collage. Small pieces of paper, string, buttons, or other small and textured items about the thickness of a nickel or quarter are glued to a rigid substrate (such as mat board) in an interesting arrangement of textures and sizes. These are then sealed with a coat of varnish and allowed to dry. Once dry, the “plate” can be inked and run through a printing press, allowing the printmaking paper to sink into all those interesting folds, shapes, and textures. The plate may be re-inked and used several times or it can also be wiped clean and framed along with the printed image. All materials will be provided except found items to make your initial collage.
Classes will be limited to 8 students so please register by February 9th.
Instructor Kyle Keyser has an MS (Visual Arts Focus) from New York’s Bank Street College of Education & studied at Parsons Schools of Design. He is a graduate of UVA and studied Art at Longwood College; Washington DC’s Corcoran School of Art; Art Institute of Atlanta; Radford University and Virginia Commonwealth University.
