The Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce & Tourism is hosting a Candidates Forum featuring the 6 candidates running for Covington City Council on Thursday, September 5th at 6:00pm in the Covington City Hall Council Chambers. The forum is being sponsored by the Chamber as an effort to encourage citizens to become more involved in local government by learning about the issues and positions of candidates. The public is encouraged to attend.
The 6 candidates are:
District 3:
- Lee Roe & Raymond Hunter
District 4:
- Susan Wolfe & Thomas “Tom” Sibold Jr.
District 5:
- David Crosier & Susan Crowder
Members of the public will be allowed to submit written questions at the forum: a panel will review the questions before they are posed to the candidates. The moderator will pose the same question to each of the candidates and each candidate will have a limited time to respond. At the end of the forum, each candidate will be given three minutes to present statements about their candidacy and explain why they are running for office and their position on various issues.
