Introducing artist Cathryn Hankla, the Impossible Weave is an exhibit showcases artworks varying from quaint landscapes, organic abstractions, to precise geometric representations. Hankla’s formal study of the visual arts includes photography, filmmaking, design, papermaking, drawing and painting. Her paintings in oil experiment with pattern and color, often relying on combinations of shapes, drawn lines, and textures, to layer space. She draws inspiration from landscapes, fabric swatches, quilts, musical structure and various symbolic systems including sacred geometry. Sacred geometry ascribes symbolic and sacred meaning to certain geometric shapes and certain geometric proportions. It is associated with the belief of a divine creator of the universal geometer, the universal language of the cosmos.
This exhibit will be on display in our gallery from February 20th to March 15th, 2024.
Art Center winter hours are Monday through Saturday, 10:00am to 4:30pm.
