Kriskindlmarkt Goes OUTDOORS for 2021!
Clifton Forge School of the Arts will host an in-person, all-outdoor holiday market the weekend before Thanksgiving: November 19-20, 2021
SHOPPING HOURS:
Friday 12 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Saturday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
BIERGARTEN: Begins Friday 5 p.m.
(Friday evening Biergarten will continue with festive music after shopping closes.)
The ongoing realities of COVID-19 make it challenging to plan large events and gatherings held indoors. We will hold an in-person, outdoor Kriskindlmarkt event- just like the German markets our event is modeled on!
KRISKINDLMARKT looks and smells like a European Christmas village. It’s a “can’t miss” event in the Alleghany Highlands!
Enjoy an outdoor wonderland filled with laughter, lights, holiday scents & cheer, shopping & entertainment.
Santa will make a visit! Live music and dance performances throughout the event. Dress for the weather! We will have warming stations if the weather is cold. And for more outdoor winter fun in the Alleghany Highlands, we will once again host The Garden Illumination, a light extravaganza in the School of the Arts’ garden, beginning at Kriskindlmarkt and ongoing throughout the holiday season!
ENTRY FEE: $2 cash admission; free for children 12 & younger. Masks are required in the shopping area.
ARTISAN VENDORS: Wood-turned bowls, cutting boards, pens, hand-made sweaters, hats, scarves, and socks, bags & purses, soaps & lotions, body & beard care, pottery, framed antique tiles, knit & crochet arts, jewelry of all kinds, quilted items, tomtes & Advent Wichtel, Christmas ornaments, ginger candies, maple syrup, and baked goods are just some of the items you’ll find at Kriskindlmarkt this year.
FOOD & DRINK: European-style breads & pastries, German beer & authentic Gluhwein (for ages 21+), mulled apple cider, hot chocolate and coffee as well as cold beverages will be available. Fabulous German food options to eat as you explore the Garden Illumination or take home to enjoy later.
RAFFLE: Artisan-made items from Kriskindlmarkt vendors & donors. Tickets are sold during the event with drawings done at event close (winners do not need to be present). Proceeds benefit Clifton Forge School of the Arts, the community art school of the Alleghany Highlands.
