The Highlands Community Bank Film Series Star Wars: Episode iV A New Hope Sat., Aug. 24 at 6pm In the John E. Hillert Auditorium at the Historic Masonic Theatre **All Films are Free** NOW IS YOUR CHANCE: For years we’ve been trying to get the rights to screen the film that film that launched a franchise. This summer, Disney (who now owns the Star Wars franchise) unlocked the public screening rights for 6 weeks only. At the end of August, the screening rights go back into a Disney vault. JOIN US TO RELIVE THE BIG SCREEN MAGIC. You remember: Swinging sticks in the backyard (or living room) and making weird buzzing sounds. If you had a brother or sister, the duel was on! Heavy breathing? Uh-oh, the original ‘dark lord’ was near. And a rolling fire hydrant shaped droid became an instant fan favorite. You know you dressed for Halloween as one of the characters in this film. Probably even won a costume contest or two, as well. THE FILM THAT LAUNCHED THE KESSEL RUN CONTROVERSY: Han Solo: You’ve never heard of the Millennium Falcon!? Ben Obi-Wan Kenobi: Should I have? Han Solo: Its the ship that made The Kessel Run in less then 12 parsecs! Join us for this film event. The Imperial Forces — under orders from cruel Darth Vader (David Prowse) — hold Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) hostage, in their efforts to quell the rebellion against the Galactic Empire. Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and Han Solo (Harrison Ford), captain of the Millennium Falcon, work together with the companionable droid duo R2-D2 (Kenny Baker) and C-3PO (Anthony Daniels) to rescue the beautiful princess, help the Rebel Alliance, and restore freedom and justice to the Galaxy.
